SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE


1989 - 1992     Project Engineer:

Amine Plant for BASF Antwerp: Project included a high pressure synthesis, a two stage destillation, enlargement of a tankfarm and the offsites.


1992 - 1994     Senior Project Engineer:

Intermediate Chemicals Plant for the BASF Schwarzheide GmbH: Project included two process steps which were purchased from two different contractors, additionally to the main part which was built by BASF Engineering. Three month start up assistance was given on site.


1994 - 1996     Project Manager:

Project Group for Intermediates: Project group included an Intermediate Chemicals Plant for BASF Antwerp and an enlargement of an Intermediate Chemicals Destillation in Ludwigshafen. For the mechanical detail engineering contractors had to be selected and contract negotiations were carried out. Two contractors were involved and supervised.


The activities for all these projects included

  • feasibility studies,
  • developing of project concepts,
  • management of basic engineering,
  • management of detail engineering,
  • cost and schedule control.

1996 - 1999     Design Manager:

  • Management of mechanical detail engineering, incl. bid appraisals and contract lay-out,


  • Supervision of 4 BASF engineers and, on average, additional 4 contractor engineers,


  • Supervision of quality control activities concerning engineering services and construction of ordered equipment,


  • Consulting services for project managers concerning equipment and contracting of engineering services.

1999 - 2002     Procurement Manager:

In a Shell owners team monitoring procurement and subcontract activities of the managing contractor ABB/JGC for an Intermediate Chemicals Plant in Singapore, in particular

  • developing and implementing procurement strategies for material, equipment and subcontracts,


  • reviewing commercial and legal terms for purchase orders and subcontracts,


  • assisting in preparation and evaluation of the vendor list for the project,


  • participating in evaluating and awarding of purchase orders and subcontracts,


  • expediting of goods and services regarding quality, timing and cost,


  • realising liquidated damages and backcharge cost,


  • assisting in invoice acknowledgement, scope management and settlement of claims.

2002 - 2003     Alignment Manager:

For an Intermediate Chemicals Pant in Shanghai alignment of codes and standards with the JV partner Huntsman Polyurethanes were carried out in the offices of the contractor Foster Wheeler in Reading, UK. Furthermore the activities included

  • monitoring common engineering activities of the contractor,


  • preparing the ITB for the EPC contract,


  • producing the Basic Engineering Design Data.

2003 - 2005     Mechanical Engineering Manager:

  • Co-ordination of technical procurement activities,


  • Management of mechanical detail engineering,


  • Supervision of quality control activities concerning engineering services and fabrication of ordered equipment,


  • Consulting services for mechanical engineers in China concerning equipment and contracting of engineering services,


  • Documentation of business processes in BASF Engineering according the Sarbanes Oxley Act.
